Community Social Responsibility (CSR)

Community

Community is central to the strategies of Demec. Social responsibility has always been embedded in our decisions and actions. We are aware of our impact on our communities and we are grateful for their continued support. We aim to continue support to community in the form of financial donation to individuals and charitable organizations, or funding of development and educational programs, as well as sponsorships of social activities and special events.

Investing back in our communities is natural to us and consistent with our beliefs and philosophy. We believe in the development and the economic well being of our society and contribute to academic learning and vocational training at all levels. Education is critical towards achieving a satisfactory level of self reliance and financial independence and improving the lives and standards of our fellow citizens.

Education and Training

Elevating the knowledge and skills of our employees enhances our businesses and at the same time enables us to create and provide significant career opportunities for them and for citizens of our host countries. Our educational support also extends to non-employees and forms part of our commitment to contribute to improving welfare conditions and living standards among our communities.

Our activities in the areas of education and training include:

Sponsoring fast track employees for higher education and graduate programs.
Providing extensive on-the-job training programs for starting employees and career planning.
Supporting higher learning institutes, academic and research programs, as well as vocational training centers.

Community Investment

Demec, aware of its role and duty as a good corporate citizen, engages society with the ambition to make a difference. Many of our various investment schemes aim towards the individual in society. The objectives are to rehabilitate the person and equip him or her with viable and marketable skills so that he can feel and be productive and be able to contribute to the welfare of his family.

Our investments towards our community take many forms. DEMEC contribution targeted to various social groups: orphanages, charitable organizations, disabled people, families in need, anti smoking society, teaching Quran, Mosques, hospitals and dispensaries, friends of patients committees, development projects in rural and remote areas, youth organizations, universities, training centers, vocational schools, technical institutes, funding academic research programs and sponsoring a variety of social events, sports activities, exhibitions etc.

Environment

DEMEC is committed to making a tangible difference to our environment. An important aspect of this is making sure that our developments are more environmentally friendly. We seek to harmonize our development projects with the surrounding environment to preserve its inherent character. We are also instituting energy conservation measures in our existing projects.
